This was a good victory for West Ham United and a real boast for their players and this ended a run of three straight league defeats in a row for them. Nolberto Solano came on as a substitute and made his debut for the Hammers in this game against Sunderland.
Carlton Cole scored the first goal of the game in the 9th minute, giving West Ham United the lead, and this was his first goal of the season in only his third start for the Hammers, but Kenwyne Jones headed a great shot in the 52nd minute for Sunderland and equalising the score, giving them hope. Sunderland could have gone in front in the first minute of the game after winning a corner but Jones unchallenged header flew over the bar from about eight yards out. Another early scare for the Hammers was when Goal keeper Robert Green spilled the ball after Greg Halford’s throw in was flicked in, but he quickly recovered to grab the ball in the second attempt.
West Hams defence were a little bit untidy at times, but other than that they seemed in good shape and knocking the ball about neatly for most of the game. Sunderland made two substitutes to their team at half time taking of both Wallace and O’Donovan and replacing them with Anthony Stokes and striker Michael Chopra. The Hammers also made a two substitutions in the 73rd minute of the game replacing Noble and Etherington with Luis boa Mort and Solance and both players were institutional in the goal for the Hammers for minutes later in a very unlucky own goal for Sunderland’s Goal keeper Gordon. Bellamy raped up the game for the Hammers in injury time, when he finished off another left wing run by Boa Morte and sticking the ball in the net making the score 3-1 to the Hammers.
Match Quotes -
Alan Curbishley - “We’ll take it because there’s going to be another time we have the lion’s share of a game and come out with nothing. We got stunned by the goal and it turned the whole thing round, Sunderland grew in stature after that.”
Roy Keane - “We had to change it at half-time, we were not in control of the game. We got the goal back and the next goal was always going to win it and unfortunately it fell to West Ham.”

This was a great Victory for England over Estonia, and this win now puts them on 23 points, and takes them to the top of their group and they are now level with Croatia at the top. England is now 5 points clear of Russia and 6 points clear of Israel. England has played one game more that all the other teams in their group, but they know that a draw in Russia on Wednesday will bring them within touching distance of a place in next summer’s finals.
All the goals scored by England, were in the first half of play and after a brilliant first half the second half was a bit of a let down, but the job had been well and truly done by then for England. Frank Lampard was on the bench for this clash, and he has been out for a while with a Thigh injury, but is said to now be back to full fitness, but Steve McClaren chose to stick with Gareth Barry and Steven Gerard in midfield. The first goal came for England in the 11th minute, Richards run the ball to Wright-Phillips in the area and from a very acute angle he kick a low shot which went into the back of the net trough the legs of the Estonia goalkeeper. The 3rd goal for England came just one minute later in the 33rd minute, Ashley Cole whipped in a cross from deep and in an attempt to clear the ball Rahn sent a header past his own keeper and it went in of the post. This sealed England’s Victory and they will now be preparing to face Russia on Wednesday.

Score - Bolton Wanderers 0 Chelsea 1
This was another good victory for Chelsea and it also comes on the back of another win for them against Valencia in the Champions League. It has certainly put a smile on the Chelsea coach Avram Grant and this is his first Barclay Premiership win since becoming the Manager here.

Chelsea scored the match winning goal at Bolton Wanderers in the 41st minute of the game and this was also the first goal that they have scored in 460 minutes worth of play in the Barclays Premier League. Frank Lampard returned to the Chelsea side following a thigh injury and he showed no signs of any problems and was very influential in the game. This was a very hard fought game by both Chelsea and Bolton Wanderers and Grant’s side should have made a great start in the first 60 seconds of the game when Steve Sidwell turned quickly in the area an found kalou, who had got away from his marker, but he sent a weak header straight into the arms of the goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.
Bolton Wanderers made a great fight of it and both Kevin Davies and Ivan Campo both tested the Chelsea Goalkeeper Petr Cech. Bolton’s Leading scorer Nicolas Anelka sprung into action in the 34th minute of the game after receiving a great ball from Danny Guthie, he got away from his marker Ricardo Carvalho, but the Chelsea goalkeeper was on great form and came out to narrow the angle and make a vital block for Chelsea. This was a very open game an only a minute after Anelka had come close to opening the scoring for Bolton, Kalou made space for himself, but unlucky for him, his shot only managed to hit the side netting of the goal.
Match Quotes -
Sammy Lee - “I was pleased. I don’t want people to misread that but the application of the players was superb. I’m pleased with the fact we created a number of chances against Chelsea and played some good football. It was a very solid team performance. We really pushed Chelsea right to the end. The team spirit was superb.”
Avram Grant - “We deserved to win. We created more chances. It is not easy against Bolton but three points is what mattered. It was very good for the team after we did not start the season so well. We missed many, many players through either injuries or red cards but we dominated the game.”

Score: West Ham United 0 - Arsenal 1
This was a very hard fought game by both West Ham United and Arsenal, but in the end Premiership Leaders Arsenal, maintained their superb start to their season with this victory.
Robin Van Persie scored the only goal of the game from a close range header in the 13th minute of play, and this was enough to seal the victory for Arsenal and give them their eighth consecutive win of the season so far. Recent statistics show that West Ham have performed well against arsenal, winning both of their clashes against them last season when west ham were fighting relegation from the Premiership League, however the gunners are currently in superb form and started the game very brightly. Throughout the game West Ham continued to take the match to Arsenal, but the gunners were playing a very defensive game and they used the off side trap against West Ham very well. When the hosts did manage to get behind Arsenal’s defence, they just couldn’t find that all important cross into the danger zone. Lee Bower was penalised at the other end for hand ball, which was just outside of the area on the right. Mathieu Flamini took the shot for Arsenal from 20 yards, but the West Ham goal keeper made a great save and got down well to save it.
Match Quotes -
Alan Curbishley - “We competed as well as we could and we’re disappointed we couldn’t get back in it. If we had, it would have been anyone’s match, but Arsenal defended very well and got bodies in the way.”
Arsene Wenger - “There’s room for improvement but I am very proud of what the team is achieving at the moment. I believe we can challenge. We are very young, but we have to show we can eke out results.”

Score: Tottenham Hotspur 4 - Aston Villa 4
What a fantastic game this was between Tottenham and Villa, with Younes Kaboul striking in injury time to rescue Tottenham from a 4-3 defeat and giving them an valuable Premier League Point.
Dimitar Berbatov opened the scoring for Spurs, but two goals from Villa by Laursen edged the visitors ahead, and then Gabriel Agbonlahor and Craig Gardner both scored one goal each, which then gave Villa a 4-1 lead over Spurs. Martin O’Neil’s men had not scored away from home in the Barclays Premier League this season prior to this contest.
The Goalscoring started in the 20th minute and Laursen was in the thick of all the action. The Bulgaria striker Berbatov, headed a powerful goal from Tom Huddleston’s corner, which kicked of the scoring for spurs, but Laursen responded immediately prodding home a ricochet of Pascal Chimbonda for Villa, Laursen then got a second goal in the 33rd minute of the game. Gbonlahor made it 3-1 for villa, with only five minutes to go before half time, Craig Gardner got Villa 4th goal when he smashed the ball around the wall and straight into the far post.
Spurs then pulled one goal back to make it 4-2 when Chimbonda followed up Defoe’s deflection of the post. Keane then tucked away a superb penalty for spurs to set up a very exciting finish, which Kabould did in style by slamming spurs 4th goal in stoppage time after Villa failed to clear a corner.
Match Quotes -
Martin Jol - “I don’t know what to feel. It was awful but on the other hand it was a big celebration at the end. We almost spoiled the night and it was a great night. We came back from the death and that was a big positive.”
Martin O’Neil - “We’ve contributed here to a largely entertaining game. We have for the most part played terrifically. They dropped a little bit deep, which is understandable.”

It has always been Amir Khan’s dream since he was a little boy to be “Top of the Bill” and his dream came true on Saturday night, where he put in a cracking performance against Scott Lawton.
Khan certainly recovered his poise and pride in this fight and simply out fought the normally durable Scott Lawson and the referee was forced to stop the fight in only the forth round. The fight on paper, did look like to be good match and a great workout for Khan, but in truth it was really a one sided event. Amir Khan was just to fast, clever and more importantly to powerful for Scott Lawton. The crowd was very lively at Nottingham and it was clear from the offset that Khan was a far better boxer than Lawton.
Earlier this year Lawton had lost a title fight and in the changing rooms after the fight on Saturday night he insisted that Khan would beat the current champion Jon Thaxton at lightweight level. It has been reported that Khan has been saying the same thing himself for a long time. Thaxton fought on Friday night at York hall, where he retained his British Title when he stopped Dave Stewart in round 12. This fight was also an eliminator for the right to being negotiations for a possible meeting with Khan. However the fight still remains a remote possibility at best at the moment and when Khan fights again on December the 8th in his home town of Bolton, he will most likely be facing the former British champion, Graham Earl. This will be the next big fight from Khan, to keep a watch out for!
