After the Australian Rugby league had destroyed pretty much everything that was put up in front of them on route to the final it looked pretty much nailed on that they would become World Champions after being odds on all the way through the tournament but in their way were the New Zealand All Blacks who on the other hand had fought through two grueling matches against England one in the round robin league format and again in the Semi Finals and because of this many people are suggesting that they All Blacks were better prepared for the final than their Australian counter parts.
And with the news coming out that the Australian head coach verbally abused the match officials a day after the final for making a few dodgy decisions it just goes to prove that no matter how good you are you still have to give 100% no matter who the opposition is in front of you.
The Final itself was played out in front of well over 50000 people and with all the English fans siding with the All Blacks it set the chemistry for a cracking atmosphere that the players seemed to warm to and helped produce one of the biggest shocks in living memory after New Zealand fought for every ball and fully deserved the 34-20 win and to take home the Rugby World Cup which is something their Rugby Union counter parts would love to do I am sure.
