Williamhill.co.uk – UEFA Champions League

  • May 7th, 2009

Williamhill.co.uk – The UEFA Champions League, one of the biggest and best football competitions not only across Europe but also the world. The competition which has changed his format several times over the years, now appears to be the competition that governing body UEFA always wanted it to be.

The competition is competed by the top teams across Europe and they have all qualified through their domestic seasons, through the league they play in. Different countries have a different amount of people able to qualify, England being one of the biggest with four potential entries every season, the two teams who finish in first and second in the English Premiership automatically compete in the Champions League the following season, the teams who finish in third and fourth both have to go through some relatively easy qualifying stages.

The competition begins every season with the previously mentioned qualifying stages, then when the 32 teams have qualified they are split into eight groups of four teams and are labelled groups A-H, all the teams in each individual group play each other twice, home and away and then the top two teams in each group go through to what most people regard as the interesting section of the competition, the knock-out stages.

This is where the sixteen teams are drawn against another and they play each other twice to try and earn a place in toe the quarter finals. The reason this is seen as the interesting bit is because the majority of the ties see the big hitters from the different countries play each other.

Paddypower.ie – NBL

  • May 2nd, 2009

Paddypower.ie – Basketball is one of the greatest team sports in history and even today, and the only major sports that is completely American in origin. It has a great appeal to people, both young and old alike, be they players or fans or spectators.

In history, one of the most significant developments in basketball is the merge of the National Basketball League (NBL) and the Basketball Association of America in New York City, in 1946, the merge of which created the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is composed of thirty teams: 29 in the United States and 1 in Canada. NBA became very competitive from the late 1950s to the early 1970s and experienced a drop in popularity during the late 1970s but was revived when very talented players came into the picture.

Thanks to NBA players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and a few others, thanks to great coaches like Pat Riley, Don Nelson, Phil Jackson and all other coaches, and the rest of the people in the Basketball Hall of Fame who have greatly contributed to the game, basketball remains one of the most popular American sports today.

This time with international players joining the teams such Leandro Barbosa of Brazil, Manu Ginobili of Argentina, Tony Parker of France and Yao Ming of China, to name a few. More information about the league’s history and its players can be found on the National Basketball Association, the National Basketball Referees Association and NBA Players Association’s websites.

Bewin – Boxing Update

  • May 2nd, 2009

Bewin – Boxing is one of the oldest sports still practiced today. It dates back to ancient times with proofs of its existence evident in archaeological finds such as walls paintings, carvings, tablets, even in Homer’s Iliad, the oldest piece of western literature that survived into modern times.

As a sport, there were records indicating that the first boxing bout ever was in the 23rd Olympiad, in 688 BC. Boxing was much more a risk back then as fighters did not have any gloves on. They only have thin strips of leather protecting their hands.

Modern day boxing is way different. A boxer has to equip himself not just with a pair of gloves but with heart and spirit. He has to have the character and built of a boxer. He should have high endurance comparable or, if not, better than that of his opponent. He should have power, ability, speed and most of all, strategy. This is where boxing has been compared to chess. A boxer has to think and anticipate what his opponent is going to do next if he wants to win the match.

One of the matches I am currently looking forward to is the Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton match on May 2009 in Las Vegas. Both boxers have been training hard ever since the match was officially announced. Critics have been criticizing and comparing one boxer to the other and continuously gushing as to who should get the pound-for-pound title. People have been talking about it for months on end, making this upcoming match one of the most awaited ever!

Although you can say that sometime the price offered at Ladbrokes is not the best which normally it isn’t you can be rest assured you will not have to look for long before finding what you are after due to their brilliant user friendly website that is very straight forward unlike many of their competitors of today.

Dependant on the level of money you like to stake on your bets is how high I would recommend Ladbrokes to new customers, meaning if you are a punter that likes to stake low and look for maximum payout then I would say categorically stay away from Ladbrokes because you will not get rich quick on this site, but if you like to stake big then I would say get signed up quick because Ladbrokes allow some mega bets which others seem to be scared of.

Ladbrokes now operates over 2,200 betting shops in the UK and Belgium, there website has lots of deposit and payout options including new ones including PayPal, Enets and Western money transfer to name a few.

Poker players need not look elsewhere than Ladbrokes also with a 25% cash bonus on your first deposit, and up to $100 free just for playing regularly in Ladbrokes poker rooms, Ladbrokes Casino also has many new bonus player incentives as well but far too many to mention so pop in and have a look.

Williamhill.com – As one of the leaders in the betting industry for years William Hill has built itself on being professional and loyal to its customers and with the promotions currently being offered at William Hill I say if you are not already a member then you should also take a look at what they are ready to give you.

William Hill offer all the ususal perks to new customers that all their competitors do but there are one or two promotions especially on the William Hill Casino that look very interesting to say the least.

At William Hill the philosophy is simple, they believe that players should promotions and incentives the whole year round and therefore are offering you a massive 100% Match Bonus on every deposited amount of money each and every month. But this is only for the first deposit of the month but is still a Casino players dream whether you like the Roulette tables or the Poker table.

Ladbrokes – Horse Racing Update

  • April 30th, 2009

Horse racing, they say, is one of the oldest sports and one of the world’s favourites. First let me tell you a little about its history.

To place a bet on ladbrokes.comclick here!

Horse racing is a gambling sports that has been around since ancient times but it was only later in 12th century when it became a professional sport when King Henry II of England started breeding Arabian stallions with English mares. This is the breed extensively used in horse racing today.

As racing became more and more popular through the years, the breeding of racehorses also underwent some changes. More Arabian stallions were imported to the country and bred with English mares producing powerful and spirited horses with amazing speed.

Gambling expanded in an alarming rate when technological innovations that were developed in the 19th century led horse racing into becoming the most popular sport in the country with millions of people watching and now with the boom of online betting and bookmaking sites such as Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and Gala Coral, people found an even easier way to place their bets and right from the comforts of their homes. They won’t have to drive to betting shops and waste gas or sit in traffics.

This became one of the issues most talked about today, gambling sports such as horse racing, greyhound racing and darts could be doing more harm than good to the society as they seem to be encouraging more and more people to turn into gambling especially with the credit crunch biting hard.

Bet365.com – International round up

  • April 29th, 2009

This week was World Cup qualification week and for our home countries it was a week of both joy and disappointment for our home nations in one way or another.

To place a bet on bet365.com click here!

England only played 1 qualifying game this week but that was enough for them to take a 5 point lead at the top of their group after a hard fought 2-1 victory over Ukraine at a packed Wembley.

Crouch who celebrated his recall to the national side replacing Heskey and Darren Bent who both pulled out through injury after the weekend friendly 4-0 demolition of Slovakia with the opening goal of the game against Ukraine and celebrated his strike with his world famous robot dance which gets the atmosphere rising throughout the stands at Wembley then Shevchenko looked like grabbing a point for the visitors until Captain John Terry’s late header grabbed all the points for the three lions and now they look like barring a disaster easy qualifiers for South Africa.

Scotland had mixed fortunes in their two games, first losing heavily 3-0 away in Holland before restoring national pride in their 2-1 home victory over Iceland to leave them 2nd in their group.

Both the Republic and Northern Ireland look good in their groups with the Republic drawing both their games with Bulgaria and Italy which leaves them in a strong position in 2nd place and little Northern Ireland had two fantastic victories over Poland (3-2) and then Slovenia (1-0) leaving them top and dreaming of the finals.

Wales had a week they would most like to forget, first going down 2-0 at home to Finland they followed that up with a 2-0 loss at home to Germany leaving them with no earthly chance of qualification and their fans booing them off the pitch.

Ladbrokes Review

  • April 29th, 2009

Cricket is an international sport played extensively in England and in other countries such as Australia, Pakistan, India, Zimbabwe, New Zealand and South Africa where the sport is quite popular.

To place a bet on ladbrokes.co.uk click here!

Some said that cricket originated from a game devised by children living in small farming and metal-working communities in the Saxon or Norman times and was passed on from generation to generation before it was taken up by adults. Definite references have surfaced proving that the game has been around and has been played for hundreds of years and now as a sport played worldwide and enjoyed by many.

In England, they have county championships for the sport, with both four-day and one-day competitions held all at the same time during the summer months. The Cricket World Cup, on the other hand, is conducted every four years and is a one-day competition, organized by the sport’s governing body, the International Cricket Council. Australia has bagged the award these recent years, having won the Cricket World Cup in 1999, 2003 and 2007.

The 2011 Cricket World cup will be the tenth Cricket World Cup and will be hosted in the four Asian Test cricket playing countries – Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh from the months of February to March 2011.

The attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team last March 03, 2009 though, where six members of the Sri Lankan cricket team were injured and where six Pakistani and two civilians were killed, could result to some changes in the schedule.

Ladbrokes : Premiership highlights

  • April 28th, 2009

Ladbrokes – What a weekend of action we have just had in the English Premiership this weekend. Saturday we had Liverpool who after hitting the bar and post five times in 90 minutes had Israeli midfielder Benayoun to thank after his injury time winner gave the Pool a vital three points in their away game at Fulham and for 24 hours had them at the summit once more.

To place a bet on Ladbrokes.com click here!

Saturday also had West Brom beaten at home by Stoke City 2-0 and because of this now looked doomed at the foot of the table and barring a miracle look certs for the drop, like wise Middlesbrough who were hammered 4-0 away at Bolton and had their fans calling for manager Gareth Southgates head after they now look also certain to be playing Coca Cola Championship football next season after now being 5 points from safety.

Newcastle who now have local hero Alan Shearer in charge for the remainder of the season fought very well against Chelsea at St James Park but were outdone by goals from Frank Lampard and Malouda in the Londoners 2-0 victory leaving Newcastle two points from safety.

Sunderland completed a miserable weekend for the north east going down 2-0 to West Ham in London and now face a hard battle to stay up with neighbours and rivals Newcastle only two points behind.

Sunday was the day that a new star looked to be born, Italian teenager Macheda climbed off the bench with Manchester United 2-1 behind at home to Aston Villa with half hour to go and before the final whistle he helped his team to a fantastic 3-2 win with himself grabbing a glorious winner in injury time.

So now with 8 games to for United they are once again at the top by a point and still crucially with a game in hand.

Williamhill – Casino games review

  • April 28th, 2009

Williamhill Casino and Poker game websites were something that I did not know anything about twelve months ago but now after starting slowly I now have come to realise that after a bit of time the games at the Casino section will start to get a bit easier to understand and now I actually enjoy playing them with roulette being my favourite and something I enjoy spending a little money playing.

To place a bet on Williamhill click here!

With so much competition nowadays from all the Casino based websites trying to get your custom the one tip I would give you is to shop around before signing up because like Sports book sites all the Casino sites are offering some great deals to get you on board with some good signing up deals and some great promotion offers for both betting and getting friends to join up.

My favourite Casino/Poker site out of all the ones on the Internet is VC Poker who gives you free money when you first join and regularly tops up your account when you have accumulated enough AP points which you get by just playing on tables whether you win or lose!

Also when you have racked up enough AP points you can take a look at the tournament tab and look at how many tournaments allow you to join with your AP points instead of parting with real cash for the chance to win great prizes, more AP points or real dosh which is a great way to spend them nights when there is nothing decent on the telly to watch.
