Football fans who regularly tune into live TV games via satellite and cable cannot have failed to notice the advertisements for bet365.ukand ask themselves “Isn’t that the Japanese bloke from Last of the Summer Wine? I’m sure it is.”
It’s an entertaining piece of animation mixed with live footage of the ‘Japanese Man from Last of the Summer Wine’ announcing the overwhelming array of in-play betting markets to choose from such as ‘total goals’, ‘number of corners’, ‘correct score’, etc. etc. The advertisement is witty, clever, and original, and must be working wonders for Bet365.uk as it seems to be shown alongside just about every live game on TV, week in – week out.
Sadly, there is a distinct absence of the Japanese man when you arrive at the website, but the in-play betting experience is very good. And it isn’t just football betting on offer; you can bet in-play on just about all available markets, and with some you get live video coverage too, which is incentive enough to join in the fun. If there is no live coverage the in-play experience is still pleasant, with little sound effects here and there such as crowds cheering when a goal is scored or a fanfare when a point is won in a basketball game. It kind of adds to the atmosphere.
However, I would still like to be greeted by the ‘Japanese man from Last of the Summer Wine’ when I log in, just to see his cheery face and brighten my day. www.bet365.uk

After the break of the FA cup the Premiership once again takes centre stage this weekend with all the teams once again doing battle at both ends of the table.
The big game of the weekend is at Villa Park where this season’s surprise team Aston Villa face Chelsea in a game that both must win to keep any lingering hopes of winning the Championship alive, Villa who will start the game 2 points ahead of Chelsea and 3 behind 2nd placed team Liverpool know that if they can pick up 3 points finishing in the top 3 will look a lot safer and Chelsea on the other hand know 3 points will see them overtake Villa and move into 3rd place so it really is one of the natural six pointers during the season. My tip for this game has to be a 0-0 or a 1-1 draw.
Arsenal who starts the game 5 points off Chelsea in 5th desperately need three points if they are to get back into next year’s Champions League and with them facing Sunderland at home I see an easy 2 or 3 goal comfortable home victory.
Leaders Manchester United looks to have a home banker this week with Blackburn coming to Old Trafford and I cannot see anything other than an easy 3 points for United even without their injured stars all still in the stands.
Liverpool face money bags Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday knowing anything less than 3 points will surely see the Championship heading back to Old Trafford and with them knowing this I sense a home win but it will be tight and Torres to score 1st and Liverpool to win 1-0 is looking like a good score cast bet.

www.totessport.co.uk is a website that I wasn’t too familiar with but on having a look, my first impressions are that it is a superb site and you can see why they receive new memberships every day. Down the left hand side of the website they have a long list of all the different sports that you can place a bet on, everything ranging the popular sports of football and horse racing all the way down to less popular sports like Snooker and UFC.
While looking down the left hand side of the site I also spotted Totesport radio, I was intrigued so I had a little listen and it was great, with updates on odds and results of racing etc coming in, I think this is a brilliant addition to an already great website. The main body of the site is the block in the middle and this is where we can see the latest football odds/offers or anything that’s possible to bet in-play, for example as I’m typing this I can bet in-play on the England – West Indies match. Finally on the right hand side this is where we have the offers and highlighted games available, as far as I can see they have some fantastic offers available to new and current members.
As I’m looking there are 5 boxes offering different things, one being a 100% sign up bonus to new members, another being a £10 bonus if you sign up to the Bingo game, another one saying you can insure your bet on the football and finally the other two were promoting games, one being a board game called Shut the Box and finally a game that has taken the world by storm in it’s respective countries…Deal or No Deal. www.totessport.co.uk

For me, the number one bookmakers in the UK is Williamhill.com and this is where I place any bets I might place when I’m out and about, is the website as good as the bookmakers we see in the street, I think so. Now Williamhill.com is fantastic for uploading new and exciting offers and promotions onto the website and right now is no different. At the minute on the website we have 5 main things that they are promoting.
First of all we have “betlive”, Betlive is the same as in-play betting which means you can bet on live events, for example different bets and odds will appear throughout the whole event, whether it be horse racing, football, cricket…anything. Next up we have “Live Scores- view now” this does exactly what it says, if you want to view any live scores that are currently going on, you simply click on this link. Third on the list is “3D instant roulette” with a “play now” link on it. This is taken from the casino section of the website, which is understandably one of the most popular areas of the site, Roulette is a good game to promote because you don’t need any skill or theories to play, it is a simple game of luck and very appealing to new members as well as current ones.
Next up we have a FANTASTIC offer, and that is a £250 poker bonus, it doesn’t tell you how you get this £250 but that is half of the battle because this will entice the members to click the link and this is how they get members to sign up and spend money. Finally we have virtual racing, this is a life like virtual game that is available to play all day, it’s like the real life thing expect you don’t have to wait around all day waiting for a specific race because when it isn’t real, they are a lot more frequent. www.ladbrooks.com – This last two weeks has probably been the most hectic two weeks of anybody that is involved in the English Cricket teams make up. First we had the rumours of a major fall out between the then English Captain Kevin Pieterson and Head coach David Moores then we had the double resignation or sacking of them both (depending on who you believe) then within 24 hours we had the new captain being named in Andrew Strauss and just to top it off we had former Pakistan spin legend Mushtaq Ahmed given the job of trying to nurture England’s spin bowlers into World beaters and I think personally he is the best man for the job.
With the English team due to arrive in the West Indies on the 21st of Jan all the talk will be around Pieterson’s departure as captain and Strauss filling the void but with so much at stake with England having a disastrous 2008 it is imperative that England learn how to win again before their titanic tussle with Australia in the summer for the Ashes.
The squad which has been chosen to represent the three lions has thrown up a couple of surprises in its choice but with four Test matches and five one day internationals and a twenty-twenty match chucked in as well it will be left up to the side which has been together for a few years now to start showing the potential that it was strongly tipped too when these young boys were given the chance.

If Manchester United win their home midweek game over Wigan then the game with Bolton on Saturday away at the Reebok Stadium could see them leapfrog leaders Liverpool who host Everton on Monday in their 1st of their two meetings in a week after the pair were drew together in the FA Cup on the following weekend. I happen to think Man Utd will win both games but I also fancy Liverpool to beat Everton and remain top going into next week.
The two out of sort London teams both have winnable games in which I expect them to take maximum points from. Chelsea host Stoke City and should get 3 points comfortably and like wise Arsenal who travel to Hull City for the live Saturday night game.
Aston Villa hopes to carry on their brilliant form away at Sunderland and I can see them getting the win by the odd goal and keep their Champions League ambitions alive.
This weekend could see a big lift for Newcastle if they can overcome a Blackburn Rovers side that now has Sam Allardyce at the helm and I fancy the toon to sneak this game and start to pull away from that dreaded drop zone.
The other games on Saturday have Man City at home to Wigan and I think this is nailed on for a draw. Sundays games sees Portsmouth make the trip to Tottenham to face their former manager Harry Redknapp who are desperate for a win which think they will easily manage. And the last game of the weekend is a London derby involving West Ham and Fulham and for me this is a certain draw.

www.bewin.com – South Africa has suffered a huge scare in the lead up to the first test in Perth on December 17.
In a practice match against the Western Australian second XI, South African Morne Morkel cam crashing down after bowling the very first ball of his spell following a suspected rolled ankle.
Morkel was unable to continue bowling and left the field in the hands of a trainer, much to the dismay of South African Captain Graeme Smith and his team mates.
South Africa had been talking up their pace attack, particularly on the Western Australian pitch which is well renowned ad a fast bowlers wicket.
Fellow fast bowlers Mkaya Ntini and Dale Steyn have been recently regarded as two of the in form bowlers in the world of late.
Dale Steyn is widely regarded as the quickest of the quicks and has openly stated that he will be looking to crack the magical 160 kms per hour at some stage over the summer.
The Proteas managed just 2/185 from their 50 overs despite a solid 105 from Hashim Asla and a promising 52 from Jacques Kallis.
West Australian skipper Adam Voges came out to blaze 87 from just 78 balls to lead his team to a very comfortable 4/225 off 50 overs.
Morkel is said to have relatively minor swelling and discomfort and will more than likely take no further part in any practice matches.
The team doctor is confident, however, that Morkel will be fit for the first test next week.

www.bet.365.com – Ben Cousins has vowed to return to Australian Rules Football’s centre stage despite describing the stringent new drug testing conditions place upon him by the AFL as ‘onerous’.
The disgraced former West Coast Eagle’s captain and Brownlow medalist was given the all clear to play in the competition next year.
The thirty year old will enter the competition through the draft system with St. Kilda firming by the minutes as short priced favourites to snare fallen star.
The AFL yesterday defended the rigorous testing conditions (Cousins will be required to provide a urine sample as often as three times a week and a hair sample every three months) stating that these are normal conditions for any recovering drug addict.
Cousins appears to be back to top fitness but his lack of game time and the obvious abuse he has subjected his body will be a telling factor in whether or not he can make a successful return to competitive football.
Although other clubs have showed sign of interest, St. Kilda remain at $1.40 (at Sportingbet) to put in their quiver the ‘super star’ arrow they have been missing.
Ex St. Kilda coach Grant Thomas warned against the move claiming that cousins would provide too much of a distraction for the players who would more than likely opt not too be seen with him for fear of too much public scrutiny.
An amusing side to the story is the fact that Cousins, who has his entire body waxed on a regular basis, was unable to provide the minimum 3cm length hair for testing.

Having first come about on the race courses of the UK in 1934(when it was illegal to gamble!) Currently www.williamhill.co.uk are offering a free £25 to all new customers that open an account with a £25 deposit which when you consider the current global credit crunch that is about to hit all of us can only be a good thing.
www.williamhill.co.uk specialises in the all the major UK sports and has some great Horse Racing odds which I think are possibly the best around, couple this with a great William Hill.com radio tipping service that actually does help you along with some interesting tips unlike a few others that seem to give tips out on horses that literally do not stand a chance of winning or being placed for that matter.
Betting online with William Hill compared to most of the other websites of today makes good sense especially when you consider the amount of daily promotions on offer with all sorts of different cash prizes and special prizes given out to the lucky winners.
Myself I have www.williamhill.co.uk high up there as one of my favourites and when it comes to horse racing they are the only site I use, so if you have had problems with anybody else in the past have a look at William Hill because with what they offer you will not be disappointed.
